Sales is that single business practice that if done effectively will sky rocket any company to success.

Unfortunately, 85% of businesses are not as good as they need to be in generating sales, which is why we have the staggering failure rate we do in small business.

Sales can be very complex. Or it can be extremely simple. It’s all a matter of the mindset of the practitioner.

Let’s take the simple road

What does it take to be effective in sales? Just one thing; awareness.

Awareness of your client’s problem.

Awareness of the solution that is acceptable to your client; expressing that solution as a dollars and cents value.

Awareness of the process the client will go through to decide to purchase or not. (more…)

I had the opportunity to spend a couple of days in the County Courthouse this week. Apparently when you are subpoenaed as a witness you are required to waste three days of your life for $35 in travel expense, and a turkey sandwich from the cafeteria. It did however provide for some entertainment and a chance to see some real examples of sales presentations.

What can you do about this terrible drag on your success? (more…)

A salesperson’s job is a very interesting but hard one and one of the best ways to achieve success in it is by building strong client relationships. Clients have to feel a sense of loyalty to the brand and even to the salesperson to some extent. This can only be achieved if the person maintains excellent channels of communication with each client. The reason why communication is so important is that it permits the salesperson and customer to understand each other well and express their needs to each other.

There is no quick fix to excelling in sales as many a novice sales executive has found out. Customers might buy a product once because of advertising or some other reason but they are unlikely to keep coming back unless the company is able to understand their needs clearly and sell them products to cater to their needs. This involves a lot of work and is something that has to be done in order to maintain a company’s position in the market. (more…)

In today’s world time seems to be going faster than ever before. By the end of the day we look back at the To Do list we had at the beginning of the day and see it is now longer than the one we started with.

As our environment around us continues to change, we have to adapt and also change if we are to keep up and grow our business. The two biggest things any business can do to not only grow but also create a system around increasing sales and demand for their product or service are: delegation and systematization.

Too often I walk into a business and notice the owner is the sales consultant, boss, manager and every other role you can think of in business. Doing this is not only stressful for the business owner but also for the staff as they feel inadequate and unchallenged. (more…)
